Blogging in Beloved Community

Welcome to "Koinonia Kin"--a blog for disciples and seekers, eager to explore the traditions and
practices of Christian faith. What we're doing is curating a lively exchange of reflections, artistic offerings, theological musings and encouragement: and we're hoping that our conversation here will challenge and inspire friends and communities to go deep and serve bold and risk new patterns of faith and witness! For the most part, we're members and friends of The Community Church of Durham (NH)--an Open & Affirming Congregation of the United Church of Christ. But we're eager to share this conversation, and all that happens here, with siblings, sisters and brothers in Spirit...near and far. Welcome!

SUFFERING: "Living with Extreme Uncertainty"

This would be a post by someone in the community, working through her thoughts on suffering and vulnerability, and how it is we walk with faith into uncertain times.  Does faith mean never getting sick?  Does faith mean not worrying about it?

PRAYER: "Finding the Lord's Prayer. Again."

Maybe it's the pandemic.  Maybe it's just me.  But prayer's getting real for me these days.  Not as a way to manipulate the cosmos, or prove my devotion to God.  But as a practice that grounds me in this place.  And as a practice that humbles me and connects me and finds me in a wider community of beings and friends.  This particular prayer -- which is a Maori Prayer from the South Pacific -- has become especially potent, and I say it often.

It's a revisioning (or simply, an interpretation) of the Lord's Prayer.  And it moves me.  I find myself walking with Jesus.  I sense a cloud of witnesses all around me.  And I'm grateful for the amazing gifts and commitments of those who are living in compassion, faith and risk every day now.
